The motocross taster course
At MX-Academy you can take part in a motocross taster course even as a total beginner. Riders are split into groups, and the coaches look after every rider in the group. Beginners first learn how to handle the throttle, the basic position on the dirt bike and then changing gear with the clutch. Once they can do that, they ride on the track on their own – normally already on the first day. The courses are held in German. There are always people on site who can translate, and MX-Academy takes English-speaking riders into account – but there are no English-only courses.
MX-Academy only uses bikes designed for competition, so coaching is obligatory for everyone who rides there for the first time. The youngest riders in a taster course are about 4 years old, the oldest 74.
- The taster course with 1 hour of riding time including breaks (CHF 165 including bike, protective gear and coach) is only available every second Wednesday.
- For women, men and teenagers, MX-Academy recommends 3.5 hours (Wednesday) or 4 hours (Saturday) of riding time instead, also including breaks.
- To book the 1-hour taster, sign up for a Wednesday date in the course calendar and write "taster" in the comment field.
